I Need Your Help-We Can Change Lives

I have a favor to ask of you. I need your help in getting the word out about an amazing event for our girls, parents and teachers that we are organizing in Austin; the upcoming Girls Now! Conference October 25th at the Ann Richards School.  We all know the power of grassroots movements and we all are looking for ways to make a difference.  Here is how you can get involved.  Pass on this information to everyone you know and make change happen!

Do you have a daughter, niece, granddaughter or friend who is dealing with bullying or body image issues? Sign her up for the Girls NOW! Conference, on Sat., October 25th 8am to 4pm at the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders.(2206 Prather Lane)

This all day event is full of empowering and educating workshops for girls in grades 6-9 and includes national speakers Courtney Martin (author of Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters) and Dove's Real Beauty campaign spokeswoman Jess Weiner.

 

Hands on, interactive breakout sessions on a variety of related topics are being offered by the premiere "girl" non-profits of Central Texas such as GENaustin, Latinitas, Girlstart, Girl Scouts,
Girl Clubs. These sessions are designed for girls or parents/teachers and include:

 

"Friends Not Foes: Stop Bullying in Your School"
"Cyberbullying"
"Media Awareness: Tuning Your Filter"
"Mother-Daughter Team building"
"My Body, My Image"
"Reality TV for Teens"
"Your Marvelous Mind and the Secret of Self-Esteem"
"Maintaining Girls' Voices in a Drowning Culture – A Parent's Guide"
"Online Safety"
"What Can Parents do to Help Kids Being Bullied?"
"It Takes a Strong Mom To Make a Strong Teen - Getting Fit For Our Girls"

Individual tickets are $10 /$15 for a child and adult
